Millichope School reunion (2008)
The school reunion was held on August 14th at the Beanbridge club.
Geoff Gwilt has added photographs of the 2008 reunion to the Millichope photograph section which can be found on the Geoff Gwilt Collection page.
Many thanks to all the organisers for getting so many old boys together. Name tags would have helped us find each other, in nearly 60 years we have all grow a little older, wiser. My thanks Mr. & Mrs. Schultz for making us healthy, thanks to all that running around, it made us hard working and gave us the right values missing in the general public today.
I have a few photographs of our 60 years anniversary, see the photographs below.
The first attachment is a composite of "Old and New" the black and white taken in 1952 of Michael R Mumford, Gordon S Jukes and Gerald Pritchard in front of now below ground entrance. In the top colored photograph seated is Gordon and Gerald. The two wearing their old school caps are Gordon and Michael, "Old Boys" on 14th August 2008, 56 years later. The signatures proof they were close then and even blacked each other's eyes. Fighting in those days was automatic caning by Mr. Schultz, this was six of the best. We never fought again and were best of friends, even today!
Best wishes

Through my wife Barbara being in touch with the website and my curiosity about Millichope school, my interest was kindled when I read about former pupils accounts of their life stories and the progress they had made in their careers. This stirred me to write a little of myself and my life in the (never to be forgotten) school. Especially after the old boys re-union (2008) which was very enjoyable.
When I grew up and met my wife and married ,I knew what I wanted and went for it; I went into manufacturing and became a welder/fabricator. I continued in this occupation for 30 years. 4 years at Shrewsbury, 26 years in and around Birmingham.
I am grateful that my general education was brought up to standard and learning to swim gave me a little confidence in myself. I am very grateful to Millichope School staff, some boys, and the general make-up of the school' s character forming and being made into a responsible person. I didn't see this at the time but on growing up and looking back, one sees the bigger picture. I was given what little confidence I had then.
I have been happy in engineering for 30 years, a family man with 4 children and 2 grandchildren, now retired due to poor health (I am on medication for a weak heart)
I think we owe a big thank you to Bill Lewis for organizing the last re-union (2008). Thank you Bill!
Best wishes
