| Ian Low | November 28, 2011 | Thank you for your quick reply Graham. I think the website is marvellous and kudos to you. Am afraid I have no pictures or antiques for you just memories and I hope I can share them. Thanks again |
| Gavin Hamilton | October 8, 2011 | I’ve just enjoyed looking at your super website (again) & wondered if any of the old boys would like to take up a 15% discount on winter bookings (1 Oct to 31 March) in 1 of our 3 Apley holiday cottages. Best wishes Lady Harriet Hamilton |
| Bernie Lewis | October 6, 2011 | You are getting quite a data base together now, it never surprises me when I hear what some of the ex-pupils have achieved, they had a great grounding. I, myself have now written a book and make some mention of my days at School. Even in the titles (It has two) “From broken pens and Racing frogs to millionaire” or “The ratcatchers guide to making money”. This may bring a smile to anyone who remembers me. Keep up the good work. Regards Bernie Lewis 1959 Millichope Autumn intake. |
| Chris Evans | August 29, 2011 | What a great site. |
| Liz Bennett | February 19, 2011 | I am David Reynolds widow, our children have found the website & I know they would love to hear any stories about their dads time at Apley. I have a couple of photos that may be of interest I shall dig them out for you. |
| Basil Turner | February 13, 2011 | I am trying to find information about Millichope BEFORE 1948. I stayed in what was then a Benedictine monastery for one month in the severe winter of 1947. My purpose is to write a personal account of life in Britain from 1930 to when everything began to change in the late 50s and the 60s, when free love and flower power took over. My stay as a guest of the Benedictine community at Millichope is a fond memory of a lost world. |
| Giles Reynolds | February 12, 2011 | Hey Graham, Both my father "Anthony Reynolds" and uncle "Gordon Reynolds" both attended Millichope and my uncle as seen 6th from far left back row in June 62 pic on your webs site moved on to Apley. My father now lives on the banks of the seven about 4 miles upstream and on the other bank, and Gordon lives about 2 miles from Millichope. |
| Bill Lewis | January 30, 2011 | The new look web site is a tribute to you. |
| Ean Harrison | January 9, 2011 | The site is looking really nice with its new layouts Graham. Nice to see more old boys discovering it. I will try to adjust my diary to attend the reunion and meet the guys again. Will keep you updated. All the best ...Ean. |
| Malcolm Newbold | December 13, 2010 | Graham we have never met, I was at Apley from 1962 to 1966, so as you can tell from those dates I am a real fuddy duddy who has only just started to use a computer since being made redundant in May. I learnt about the site from Bernie Lewis and I am so glad I did. It is a great site that has re-kindled a lot of good memories. Thanks for all your hard work. |
| Warren Saunders | December 8, 2010 | Just found this website. Looking through some old photos "earliest re-unions after Apley closed" I can put my name to a photo - seventh row down, second from left Warren Saunders - 1981 intake. Will be in touch soon. Jogging some fantastic memories. Very emotional looking back at distant faces and scenes. |
| Mark McCracken | November 2, 2010 | Just logged on for the first time in ages ( years maybe ) the site is a real credit Graham. A shame there are so few from 74 here. I'll put myself down for the 2011 reunion.Be good to see some old faces. Not sure that I would of recognised Ricky Taylor and David Peacock if I'd been there last year. Cheers for now mate. |
| Trevor Lewis | August 20, 2010 | Good luck with the site its looking great so far. |
| Philip Eardley | August 16, 2010 | I recently met Peter George at his mill and told him that I was going to visit Apley Park later in the day.My wife and I were overjoyed when we saw that the old place had been renovated. On returning home I have visited the web site and found it tobe TREMENDOUS. A real credit to you and all the contributers. I was only at Apley Park for a short period of time as Woodwork,Metalwork & Tech drawing teacher 1974-75, but carry many happy memories. I moved to Crewe where I continued a most rewarding career and finished 8 years ago to concentrate on my "hobby" of Magician and MC. I have diaried the date of the Apley Reunion 2011 and even though I might not be remembered by many old pupils or staff I would like to be part of it. Once again congratulations on a terrific site. |
| Pete George | August 16, 2010 | I Have come across two potential contacts in the last two weeks in teacher Phil Eardley, Woodwork Teacher Year 72/73 whom visited the mill this week and also Malcolm Roberts whom was a pupil in the intake year of 1978 whom apparently works as a chef at Windsor Castle. I have asked Phil to contact you and will obtain Malcolms contact detail for you later. I also met up with Julian Goode Year 1965 intake, for the first time in 40 years on Thursday evening. |
| Clare Hockenhull | July 23, 2010 | What a wonderful site. It takes me back to when I was a little girl and I would walk through Apley Park, with my Mother, down to the School to meet my Grandmother, Mrs Margaret Roberts who was a cook at the school. My Grandmother has just celebrated her 90th birthday earlier this month and I just wondered if any of you guys can remember her. Thank you, regards Clare |
| Philip Tomlins | July 5, 2010 | I have'nt been on the site for quite awhile, but very impressed in all the hard work you have put into it Graham. Keep it up. Please find attached my email address. Regards Phil Tomlins |
| Glyn Davies | June 16, 2010 | Thanks for keeping this great web site and for updating my info. Glyn Davies |
| Stephen Timbrell | March 19, 2010 | Been on the site and noticed you wanted my new e-mail address, not been on here in a while but you should be able to get it from this message. Thanks, Steve |
| Robert Wright | February 16, 2010 | Can you tell me what happened to Mr and Mrs Shults. Thanks for this Great Web Site. It brings back many memories. Regards Robert Wright |
| John Alfred Ridgeway Castell | February 8, 2010 | Yes I attended both Millichope Hall, and Apley park schools, my late brother Peter Castell also attended Millichope Hall. I was amazed trouble has been taken to maintain the websites, very nice to see and reflect back. I cannot remember the exact years we attended. I left Apley aged 15 no prior notice having been deemed necessary by myself. I am pleased J Avery restored Apley into a useful living space, rather than let it fall into total disorder, as was the real threat to it. I wonder if anyone recalls me or Peter at either school if you do please email me. Very well done I did not realize reunions were still ongoing having traveled such a lot these past 45 years regards and respects to all. |
| Maria Turner nee Bonura | January 10, 2010 | I was awe inspired to stumble across this site, My Aunt Miss Mabel Yapp was Matron at both Millichope and Apley schools and I used to stay with her during the holidays , many happy memories of a dear aunt sadly missed, I have many old snaps and some of trips she made with her boys as she called them,I remember Millichope from 1959 I was 5 yrs old then, and then on to Apley, a wonderful effort made by all well done xx Marie |
| Nick Kirke | November 7, 2009 | Graham, Thanks for the update. I admit to being a bit thrown by the new format. I admire your tenacity in keeping the site alive. Millichope Old Boys are clearly less nostalgic than the Apley park lot! I remember so well when Shults told me the school was moving and when I once visited Apley as a boy soldier. I would like to come to the reunion next year but would want some Millichope boys to come too circa 1958-60. Maybe too much to hope for. Best as ever, Nick Kirke |
| Jason Dale | November 7, 2009 | Hi Graham Thank you for all the hard work you put into the Apley site development and the reunions. I'm sure I speak on behalf of others but without your hard work, inspiration and devotion the rest of us would not have been able to meet up like we have, remiss and have such a great laugh. It's your hard work that makes all this possible... Kind Regards and sincere thank's , Jason Dale |

| Marc Framingham | September 22, 2009 | Good work with the web site, keep it up. Take care. Marc |
| Karen McCall | August 20, 2009 | We are Ludlow book publishers and in Sept we publish a new book, Apley Hall, The Golden Years of a Sporting Estate, which is written by the gamekeeper Norman Sharpe, who took over the job in 1928 from his father who started the same job there in 1902. The book follows the fortunes of the estate through the C20th. The hardback has several photos of the hall etc. Thought this might be of interest to those who went to school there! Yours, Karen McCall, MD, Merllin Unwin Books, Ludlow |

| David Patrick | April 19, 2009 | I was planning a short break in the Bridgnorth area to look up old friends and family and quite by chance discovered the website. | Gordon Stewart (Pitch) | April 26, 2007 | Just had to get in touch and let you know what a great job you have done in setting up this site. I don't know whether you're making people who are getting old feel happy or people who are happy, feel old. Upon finding the site I couldn't believe some of the names and faces that I recognised and realised as someone else put it "I'm not the only sad fart", that has some strange affection for the old place. I have some fond memories of my time at Apley , so thank you for jogging the old brain cells. Well I've got to go now, but once again thank you and well done on a great site, keep up the good work. Now I have the tremendous Broadband connection I can play a bit on the Web. What shall I search for I thought? Having seen the old school up for sale a while ago I though yep! Apley Park. To say I was surprised at what greeted me was an understatement. To see the pictures of the old school and the familiar faces etc it all came flooding back. Being a bit of a computer/web buff myself I recognise the immense amount of effort that has gone into creating this site. All I can say is "Respect" Graham its an outstanding effort. |

| Ray Bray | May 18, 2001 | Graham; All this week I have been working in Warrington and, on the way home yesterday I called in to see Mark Wright in Crewe. It was really unbelievably fantastic to see him again after all these years. To say he hasn't changed wouldn't be quite right, as after 26 years we have all aged a little (and put on a few pounds) but apart from that he really was the same old Mark Wright. All of the mannerisms were still there and the wicked sense of humour. I met his children and his wife Sue and they really are a fantastic family. The reason I am telling you all of this, is because non of it would have been possible without you and all of your efforts with the "Official Apley Park Web Site"! I can't put into words the way I feel about getting in touch with my old friends again and, it's all down to you! I have had an e-mail from Murray Norton, and I have had e-mails and a phone call from Marcus Baumber, all really great. While I was at Mark's house I got his wife Sue, to take a picture of Mark and I, 'two old rogues together again' and I am sending it to you to put on the 1970 web page. Once again, many thanks and keep up the good work. P.S. Message for Murray Norton: His e-mail said "On air at the moment, will get in touch after the show" That was three weeks ago, it's a bloody long show Murray? |
| Alan Ventress | April 29, 2001 | Regards and many thanks for a job exceptionally well done - I really like the new make over. |
| Ray Bray | April 23, 2001 | Got the link to the web site this morning, I have been looking for a link for years and years - and now I have one, very well done for all the effort. I have sent my details in with the info you asked for, any thing else let me know. I do have some photos, and will take one of my self (digitally) soon and e-mail it to you. |

| Michael Over | December 12, 2000 | Hi Graham. Am I glad I found your web site. It has opened a whole lot of opportunities for me to get in touch with the class of '85. |
| Phil Stones | November 27, 2000 | Hi Graham , how are you? Very good job on your updated website well impressed. I met Murray the other day at my hotel just popped in to say hi, nice to meet ex pupils , the ones I liked anyway. Murray's trying to organise a get together very soon in the summer months - I hope! Keep up the good work and I hope many ex pupils get in touch from my era! |
| Murray Norton | November 7, 2000 | It's wonderful to have some much info about Apley, I've spent hours going over it and just want to see it expand even more. I hope I can renew some old acquaintances along the way - when's the next reunion, I want to book a flight. Anyone fancy organising a fete on the lawn? Well they might let us! Great site by the way! |
| Jason Dale | September 18, 2000 | Good luck with the Site Graham, you have done a fantastic job. I will at least add a link to your site from mine, maybe run a mirror site from the URL? Anyway I'm sure as the internet revolution takes hold more and more ex-pupils will stumble across your site, though it took me little over a year to find it, and I was looking! I eventually found it on a discussion board on Bridgnorth. Bye for now, I'm sure I'll be in touch soon. I am in the process of scanning all my old photos at the moment, so when they are done I will send you copies. |
| Matt Brownsett | September 18, 2000 | Jason Dale has just been in contact. Thank you so much for helping me get reunited with my friends. |
| Alan Ventress | September 2, 2000 | The web site goes from strength to strength - many thanks for your hard work on it, I am sure it is greatly appreciated by all ex-students and staff. |
| Rick London | August 15, 2000 | Seems like I missed a few updates to your site, but as usual it is up to its high standard. Life is still good, I am planning to fly over the old place in early September to take a few pictures. If they come out ill send them to you. |
| Les Walton | July 25, 2000 | Have a bad memory for names but seeing the Photo of ex. teachers was delightful. Had trouble with some of them but recognised the ones I hated and the ones I liked. The English teacher Wyn Owen was a great inspiration for me and I've been interested in literature and writing ever since those days. Despite the number of times he threw the board rubber at me for talking when I should have been listening. I know a couple of ex Apley people in the area I'll try and get them to get in touch and give details. I'm trying to organize a visit to Apley Park by one of our daytime presenters before it gets redeveloped into flats/apartments. Would like to hear from anyone who was there. |
| Alan Ventress | June 28, 2000 | I downloaded some of the photos of Apley as zip files the other day, thanks for adding this feature. |
| Andrew Flowerdew | June 16, 2000 | Dear Graham, I was so happy to find your website, my name is Andrew Flowerdew and as I now live in Scotland I have had no contact with anybody from the school for years. I went to Apley between 1979 and 1984, I left the year before it closed. I went back to the school last year and had a sneak around, it is in a pretty sorry state and felt rather spooky. Please feel free to pass on my email address to anybody who was there at the same time as me and thank you very much for the effort you have made with the site. I have printed all of your photos and will look for any that I may have. Thanks again Andrew |
| David Brookfield | May 23, 2000 | Very interesting viewing! I haven't seen Apley since my father died. I hear that Apley is up for sale which is very interesting as I was talking to a friend of mine about commercial applications to the house. It really would be a shame if the house was broken up into little pieces!! |
| Dave Edwards | May 8, 2000 | New site is excellent, keep up the good work. When I next clear the attic out I'll find the photo's I promised last year. |
| Dana G Foster | March 15, 2000 | Hello! Thank you for your E mail. I have visited, the Apley site many times! When I can find it, Ha!Ha! I think it's great! Nice job! I have downloaded some pictures of the complex, and told people that my family, owned it at one time. Although the chances that, I' am related to W Orme Foster, are very remote! I have at this time, found very little about him. In fact what I do know I learned from the Apley site! I will keep up the search! I will pass along to you, any info I come across. Please do the same! It was good to hear from you! Keep in touch! |
| Silver | March 14, 2000 | When I found your web site on the net I was searching for the site of Apley Castle owned by the Charlton family. The castle that I was looking for was evidently located about one and half kilometers north of Wellington. It was a manor house before your civil war. It was the only defensible building in the area at the time and was fortified. It was essentially destroyed in the war. Two more manor houses were built later. It would seem that there may be a connection between Apley Castle and Apley Park in Wellington and your boarding school near Stockton. Just what that connection is I don't know. The Charlton family was a wealthy and influential family in that area and had another castle four miles west of Wellington at a town called Charlton which no longer exists. The name Charlton has been in my family for many years but I have yet to find the source. |
| Mike Parsonage | January 9, 2000 | From what I have seen the Website looks very impressive and has obviously had a lot of time put into it. |
| Alan Ventress | January 6, 2000 | I have just been wandering around the new improved web site - which is most impressive! It is a shame that more of the ex students (and teachers) aren't more computer literate. On reading through some of the brief bios, it is surprising how many students from Apley ended up in the services. I suppose the harsh regimen at Apley prepared them for it. When I was there we had to get up at 6am and go for a morning run (about 1km) up the drive way to a large tree, where a master would tick your name off, then a run back to a cold shower which most of us avoided by running down the side of the showers so no water actually hit you. A couple of blokes I would be interested in hearing from are Malcolm Ross and Silviu Klein who both went to Apley with me, if they ever contact you please let me know. I also remembered the name of my favourite history teacher - it was Derek Brown. |
| Martyn Mansell | November 6, 1999 | What a great and well detailed site. It was only by chance that I found your site. I felt sad but also happy to look thru the photos. |
| Pete Russell | November 6, 1999 | It is great that some one has started a Web Page for former pupils, I hope that you have the patience to keep it going. Memories, Good and Bad keep flooding back when I look at the photo collections you have set up. |
| Matt Brownsett | September 25, 1999 | What a pleasant find on the internet, this is so nice to find... well done mate |
| Paul Jackson | July 24, 1999 | Just stumbled across your Apley Site. Congratulations and Bravo for putting together this fine piece of work. |
| David Sankey | June 1, 1999 | Not long found this Web Page. What an excellent idea, hope many more ex inmates find it as well ! I was detained at Apley from Sept 68 until 73. |
| Alan Ventress | August 1, 1998 | A short note to say how I enjoyed looking through the updated images, particularly the inside ones. The swimming pool is a vivid memory. I was wondering if a Mr Brown was there when you were there? He was a history teacher - and was the one who really inspired a love of history in me. I contacted Martyn Mansell via email here in Sydney to say hello. All the best and keep up the good work. |
